The quick deal Aston Villa made for Diego Carlos could make it harder for them to sign Jules Kounde.
Because of the takeover, all of Chelsea’s transfer plans have been put on hold. This summer, a deal that seemed very likely may have been thrown off track by Aston Villa. With a heavy heart, I have to say that a transfer for Jules Kounde may no longer be possible.
Andreas Christensen will leave Chelsea for Spanish powerhouse Barcelona at the end of the month. He will leave on a free transfer, so Chelsea will have to find a right-sided center-back to replace him.
I can’t imagine a scenario in which Aston Villa takes one of Sevilla’s starting center-back options and still sells the other to Chelsea, but I really hope it happens.
Chelsea had tried to get Kounde from Sevilla before the summer transfer window opened. Negotiations from last summer’s transfer window were still going on, so it was expected to be Chelsea’s main goal this time. The sanctions were then put on Roman Abramovich and Chelsea, and teams slowly picked off their summer transfer window targets.
Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso could go to Barcelona, and Antonio Rudiger could go to Real Madrid. Sanctions from the government have been clear, and the deal to take over Chelsea needs to be finalized as soon as possible or they could miss out on all their goals.
Aston Villa announced on Thursday afternoon that they had signed Carlos. The deal is thought to be worth around £26 million, and it happened just days after Kounde was seen in London.
Premier League rivals Newcastle tried to sign the Brazilian earlier this year, so hopefully, Sevilla has already made plans for next season without both of them.
Will Sevilla let both of their star center-backs leave, or does it depend on who asks first? Just wait and see.
Erling Haaland, who Chelsea wanted last summer, signed with Man City a few weeks ago. Chelsea could only watch. This could also be the case for longtime target Aurélien Tchouaméni, who is now being heavily linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid after they missed out on Kylian Mbappé.
Hopes are high that Chelsea’s takeover situation will be resolved as soon as possible so they don’t miss out on Kounde or any other summer transfer targets…
