Dolores Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, cried when her son scored his 117th goal for Portugal against Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.
Ronaldo, who is 37, scored goals like he always does. In Portugal’s 4-0 win over a bad Swiss team, he scored two beautiful goals.
In the 35th minute, he scored his first goal. Diogo Jota put him in a good position to score, and Ronaldo took the chance with confidence.
The captain of Portugal scored again in the 40th minute when he pounced on Gregor Kobel’s save with great ease.
Ronaldo’s mother could be seen smiling from ear to ear and crying happy tears as her son once again showed why he is one of Europe’s best goal scorers of all time.
Joao Cancelo and William Carvalho also scored on the night, making Portugal one of the favorites to win the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.
Ronaldo has had a tough season with his club, even though he led the league in goals with 24 in all competitions.
His Manchester United teammates were very upset. The Red Devils didn’t win any trophies and didn’t make it into the top four teams.
Ronaldo also had to deal with the loss of his baby son in April. But by staying at the top of his game, he has shown his true character and class.
