A striker who plays for Athletic Bilbao has finally decided to play for Ghana’s Black Stars in the buildup to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar.

According to a report published on 3news.com, a highly-placed source within the Ghana Football Association (GFA) claims that the deal was finalized in April of this year.

Since then, Williams has been in communication with the Black Stars’ personnel, and he is prepared to join the senior national team in advance of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Williams could make his debut for the Black Stars as early as September.

The attacker, who is now 27 years old and was born in Spain to parents who had immigrated from Ghana, stated a year ago that he feels more Spanish, despite the fact that he loves Ghana. However, after a crucial meeting with the Ghana FA, he is expected to play for Ghana.

Together with his younger brother Nico Williams, who also plays for Bilbao in Spain and who has a chance to play for Ghana in the near future, he is currently enjoying a vacation in Ghana.

Nico Williams, the younger brother, has not yet decided what he will do with his international career; however, officials from the GFA are optimistic that he will also play for Ghana.

Inaki, who is now 27 years old, had previously pledged his allegiance to Spain and played in a single exhibition game against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2016, but he has now agreed to change his nationality.

Previously, he was a member of Spain’s Under-21 team, where he played 17 games and scored three goals.

Williams has set a new record in Spain by going an incredible six years without missing a single match in the La Liga tournament.

During the 2021-22 campaign, he led the Red and Blacks in scoring with eight goals and provided five assists for the team.
