REPORTS: English talent Malcolm Ebiowei won’t join Man United

According to sources, Malcolm Ebiowei has decided to join Crystal Palace, dealing Manchester United yet another blow in the recruitment process.

The 18-year-old Derby County star made his Championship debut for Wayne Rooney’s team last season, appearing in 15 games across all competitions and scoring once. He made an impression despite their relegation, which was largely caused by the Rams’ 21-point deduction.

Additionally, according to football writer Fabrizio Romano, young winger Ebiowei has passed a physical with Palace and is about to sign a five-year deal that will keep him in south London through 2027.

Malcolm Ebiowei, an English prodigy, will not join Manchester United, Romano tweeted. He will sign his contract with Crystal Palace after his medicals are finished this week; the deal is final.

Ebiowei is moving from Derby County to Palace, and his contract is good through June 2027.

For the avoidance of doubt, Ebiowei’s medical was finished earlier this week, end of story. Soon, a five-year contract will be signed; a statement from Crystal Palace will come next.

Ebiowei, a former Arsenal academy prospect who has played junior football for both England and Holland, transferred on a free transfer from the Rangers academy to Pride Park in September.

The news comes as a shock to both United and new manager Erik ten Hag, who apparently spoke with Ebiowei’s representatives and have been keeping tabs on him for months.

Additionally, the Red Devils missed out on signing Ajax defender Jurrien Timber when ex-manager Louis van Gaal dissuaded him from making a move, and Liverpool ended up signing Darwin Nunez from Benfica despite their interest in him.
