Spanish-born with Ghanaian descent Inaki Williams has officially announced his decision to play for Ghana, the West African Country ahead of their World Cup tournament.
Inaki, who currently plays his trade with Spanish La Liga side Athletic Bilbao has confirmed his decision to represent Ghana at the Senior National team level.
The forward took to his official twitter account to confirm his decision in a video of announcing nationality switch to the four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions.
Inaki Williams said in the video “Today a new challenge begins. From now I will defend Ghana’s T-shirt with all my whilst. I’ll give my best. I am one of the Black Stars”.
Inaki who graduated from the Academy of Atletico Bilbao has made over 300 first-team appearances for the club, including a La Liga record of over 200 consecutive games.
He won the 2020–21 Supercopa de España.
Ghana booked their spot in Qatar with a win in their World Cup playoff with Nigeria on away goals last month.
With the World Cup on the horizon, the Black Stars could look to build up their squad with Chelsea FC star Callum Hudson Odoi, Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu and Inaki Nico, younger brother of Inaki Williams
