Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has jumped to the defence of new signing, Darwin Nunez following his underwhelming performances in Liverpool’s pre-season games.
Nunez made his Liverpool debut in the 4-0 loss to Man United and also endured a torrid 32 minutes of no impact in their 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace on Friday.
The Reds spent a club-record £85million on the Uruguayan last month, but he has failed to make a positive impact so far, his performances were summed up when he fired over from close range against Man United after Mohamed Salah’s shot had come back off the post.
Nunez netted 34 goals for Benfica last term, including twice against Liverpool in the Champions League, but he looked a shadow of himself so far.
Klopp was not concerned by what he saw, and claimed that he still felt Nunez was not so poor in those games.
