Cristiano Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Saudi Arabian team earlier today, and he was introduced as an Al Nassr player later in the day.
The 37-year-old, who abruptly left Manchester United in November, has now finalised his first move outside of Europe.
As the former Manchester United forward was formally introduced by the Saudi Arabian club on Tuesday, Cristiano Ronaldo claimed that he made a commitment to Al Nassr despite receiving numerous offers from other clubs across the world.
Ronaldo: “I had many opportunities in Europe, in Brazil, in Australia, in the US and even in Portugal, but I gave my word to this club”
In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Cristiano Ronaldo is introduced as a new player for Al Nassr.
Prior to entering the field in front of his new home crowd, Ronaldo addressed the media as follows: “I’m really proud of myself for making this significant life decision.
“My work is finished in Europe. This is a new challenge for me even though I won everything.
Ronaldo, who reportedly earns over Β£160 million annually, might make his professional debut either on Thursday against Al Ta’ee of the Saudi Pro-League or on Saturday against Al Shabab.
Ronaldo continued: “I stand out as a player. I broke every record in Europe. Here, I wish to break a few records.
“Since I am a unique player and this contract is also unique, it is normal for me. I honestly don’t care what other people think. I’m overjoyed to be here, very overjoyed.
“I’ve watched a lot of games, so I know how competitive the league is. If the coach feels there’s a chance, I’d like to play after (Wednesday). I want to continue playing football.”
