In the 84th minute of the match between Everton and Brighton at Goodison Park, Ashley Young accidentally scored an own goal, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Everton had taken an early lead in the seventh minute when Vitaliy Mykolenko scored his second goal for the club. However, a goal by Lewis Dunk from a free-kick by Pascal Gross was disallowed due to an offside ruling by VAR Michael Oliver in the 14th minute.
Brighton managed to secure a late draw when Kaoru Mitoma’s cross deflected off Ashley Young and went into the net with just six minutes of normal time left.
This outcome keeps Everton in 15th place in the Premier League, while Brighton has moved up to sixth place. However, Brighton has not won a game in their last five matches.
Pascal Gross commented on the match, saying, “We dominated the entire 90 minutes and played proactive football.
We came to play football, while our opponents were focused on getting a result from the start. Our approach was different, and I’m proud of our team for their effort.”
