Everton legend Wayne Rooney gives his players instructions.
According to reports, Premier League club Everton are considering replacing Frank Lampard with DC United manager Wayne Rooney.
Lampard’s job is hanging by a thread after Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to Brighton, and the atmosphere at Goodison Park has turned toxic.
Everton have only taken five points from their last ten Premier League games under the Chelsea legend, with the Toffees slipping into the relegation zone last night after Nottingham Forest won and West Ham drew.
While Lampard remains in charge for the time being, his position is precarious given the history of owner Farhad Moshiri, who has fired five managers since becoming the majority shareholder nearly seven years ago
Lampard’s record is worse than those of Roberto Martinez, Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce, Marco Silva, and, perhaps most importantly, Rafael Benitez, with an average of 0.97 points per game.
He has won nine and lost 19 of the 36 Premier League matches he has managed since taking over last January, and only Mike Walker, who managed 31 matches in 10 months over two seasons in 1994, has a worse points-per-game record of 0.87. (six wins, 16 defeats).
According to The Metro, former Everton striker Rooney is on their’shortlist to replace under-fire manager’ Lampard as a ‘defeat against Manchester United in the FA Cup on Friday night would likely spell the end of Lampard’s tenure.
