Lazio’s forward, Pedro, addressed Jose Mourinho’s remark about him being a ‘good diver’ and shed light on his decision to leave Roma for their rivals.
The 36-year-old Spaniard, who spent a season with Roma, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in 40 appearances, terminated his contract and joined Lazio. Since his move, Pedro has been a key player in Maurizio Sarri’s squad, contributing directly to 30 goals in 101 matches and serving as an experienced leader.
Responding to Mourinho’s comments, Pedro remarked, “We all know what Mou is like; he says one thing, he says another. I know him very well, he’s a very funny man. I took it with great fairness because I know he uses words to diffuse the great tension of the derby. I know him very well, having had him as a coach.”
Reflecting on his departure from Roma, Pedro explained, “The story began in a press conference when it was announced I was out of the squad. Many teams started calling, including Lazio. Sarri asked me about the situation, and after three weeks, with the market closing, he said: ‘Come here, there’s room for you.’ I had worked with him before and saw the opportunity to play for a historic team.”
